Insta360 Ace Pro 2 Xplorer-Grip-Kit
I originally thought the 8K recording capability of the Ace Pro 2 had already broken the mold of traditional action cameras, yet this Street Photography Kit manages to impress all over again. Both its design and overall performance boast an irresistible appeal — it truly stirs up creative inspiration and elevates the user experience of an "action camera" to an entirely new level.
Therefore, I will not describe it with superficial terms like "comfortable grip" or "solid build". From the perspective of a action camera enthusiast, photography hobbyist, and DSLR user, the true value of this street photography kit lies in how it fully unlocks the Ace Pro 2’s wide-angle lens as a real "camera", making shooting more intuitive and bringing you closer to a genuine street photography workflow.
Unboxing
The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 Street Photography Kit includes five practical accessories: a multi-purpose frame, cold shoe shutter button, decorative cold shoe cover, hand grip, and wrist strap—a complete setup designed to meet the real-world needs of street photography.
Insert the Camera into the Multi-Purpose Frame
The Xplorer Kit features a sturdy aluminum frame for enhanced durability and stability.
Press the button labeled “PRESS” to open the frame, then slide the Ace Pro 2 inward. Make sure to push it in firmly until you hear a clear “click,” which indicates that the camera is securely locked in place.
Install the Hand Grip
Remove the magnetic locking plate from the bottom of the hand grip, align it with the screw mount, and rotate it clockwise to secure the grip. The installation process is very intuitive and straightforward.
Install the shutter button and cold shoe
Next, install the shutter button and cold shoe module. This module links directly to the camera’s shutter button and also features a built-in cold shoe mount. Align it with the cold shoe slot and push it in firmly until it is securely locked in place.
Finally, slide the cold shoe into place to complete the installation.

Attach the wrist strap
If you want to attach the wrist strap, simply tie a knot on the outside to secure it in place.
Real-world shooting photos
When holding the grip, it doesn’t block the touchscreen at all, allowing you to stay fully focused on composition. With a simple press of the shutter button, the camera is triggered instantly. In real use, both the grip and overall handling feel excellent, delivering a smooth and intuitive shooting experience.

I’ve used all kinds of cameras for street photography, but these days, the one I reach for most often is the Ace Pro 2 Xplorer Kit. I recommend setting the camera to a Linear field of view, 12.5MP photo mode, and switching the framing to 2×. This effectively reduces the distortion caused by the ultra-wide lens, resulting in images that feel much closer to the look and character of a traditional camera.

The Xplorer Kit 2.0 represents a comprehensive upgrade focused on grip comfort and overall handling. It connects directly to the camera via USB-C, enabling 1×–2× zoom control, exposure adjustment, shutter release, and even simultaneous charging. This thoughtful design allows the Ace Pro 2 to instantly transform into a genuinely practical and capable street photography camera.
Unboxing
The 2.0 version includes only a single camera frame accessory, and the installation process is even simpler than the first-generation version.
The kit uses a clip-on design—simply hook the latch on the side of the frame to open it. Open the Ace Pro 2’s charging port cover, then, after confirming the correct orientation, place the Ace Pro 2 into the accessory frame.Make sure the camera lens and the shutter button on the grip are facing the same direction. Once aligned, the installation is complete.
Note: You must remove the Ace Pro 2’s original charging port cover before installation.
Built-in Battery
The hand grip features a built-in 2010mAh battery, effectively extending the camera’s recording time. Considering the Ace Pro 2’s internal battery is 1800mAh, this is equivalent to adding one extra battery’s worth of runtime.
In addition to the built-in battery, this accessory also supports an SD memory card. Once the Ace Pro 2 is powered on and connected to the grip, the system automatically recognizes the accessory and guides you through how to use the dial and buttons.
With the default settings, you can quickly switch between filters simply by rotating the dial—an experience that feels as intuitive and satisfying as using a Fujifilm camera, complete with a sense of tactile “ritual.”
